Dear clients,

Register Domain SA is currently busy with a mass server migration to the MTN Data Center in Cape Town.

The events that have led up to this are described below:

Monday 25 February 2013:
At around 10 am we are notified that primary node RSA1 has gone down at the MWeb Data Center in Cape Town.  Engineers on-site determine that a disk failure is the root cause, RAID controller failed and array cannot be retrieved on-site.  RSA1 node was used as the primary DNS controller with a secondary controller at the IS DC in Bryanston.  The RSA1 network node hosts our own company website as well as around 5 reseller accounts in a virtualized environment.  Engineers on-site immediately migrate our own site as well the 5 reseller accounts to a new Dell Power-edge R310 server.  Client accounts are stable and DNS Propagation is well on its way.

Thursday 7 March 2013:
At 15h00 pm our monitoring system alerts our network admin to a packet loss coming from RSA1 node.  MWeb Data Center engineer confirms that their tests indicate a motherboard failure on the new Dell Power-edge R310 server.  Mweb arranges with Dell support to meet our technician before 17h30 pm.  Dell support never arrives and our tech together with Mweb Data Center staff migrate the data again to another Dell Power-edge R310 server.  Our tech leaves at around 23h00 pm and RSA1 node is online.

Sunday 11 March 2013:
At 02h10 am our monitoring system alerts our network admin to a packet loss coming form RSA1 node.  Mweb Data Center engineer and Dell support technician test the server again at 09h00 am.  The second Dell Power-edge R310 server also suffered a motherboard failure.  Dell support technician apologize and mentions that this is probably due to a bad batch of servers received by the DC.  Dell support installs a new motherboard and our techs configure the network for the new server.

At this time the RSA1 node is online, our network admins have started the migration process of all our servers to the MTN Business Data Center in Cape Town.  We expect the process to take around 2 weeks.  Downtime will be minimal, your website may receive a new IP address.

We do apologise for the inconvenience, we are working hard in providing our clients with the best possible online experience.
